A Humanfolk Experience

Humanfolk
This is a rare opportunity in the music industry. Grouping talented musicians of the independent music genre especially with this roster is a treat. “Humanfolk is described as “world music project between Johnny Alegre (guitar, bamboo percussion, voice), Susie Ibarra (kulintang, drums, percussions, voice), Susie’s husband Roberto Juan Rodriguez (drums, percussions), Cynthia Alexander (guitar, voice, percussions, bass, bamboo percussions, gongs), and Malek Lopez (keyboards, synthesizer, sound design)”.

I got to see them in person during their album launch in B Side in Makati last May 6. I can describe their music as folk combined with indigenous tunes, jazz. Their music can also serve as lounge music because it is so relaxing to hear.

What impresses me is one of their songs; “Para Sa Tao”, partly has simple lyrics that you won’t forget: The letters of the Tagalog alphabet. Only in this album you will hear Cynthia Alexander play bass in one of the songs. Get a copy of Humanfolk now available in music bars, department stores nationwide. This experience may or may not happen in a long time.
