JAMES HARDEN AND ADIDAS WAKE THE GAME UP WITH HARDEN VOL. 1

Press release

MANILA, Philippines – October 26, 2016 – adidas and James Harden reimagine the signature shoe game with the debut of Harden Vol. 1. The collection represents the first chapter of the collaborative partnership that began October 1, 2015 with the goal of co-creating footwear and apparel unlike any signature line in sport.

Driven by Harden’s performance needs and embracing his distinctive design insights, Harden Vol. 1 embodies James’ creativity and expressive style on and off the court. adidas continues to reinvent collaboration and Harden Vol. 1 is a bold challenge to the traditional creative process.

“This was my first time creating a shoe from the ground up. With adidas, we wanted to stand for something different, be true to who we are and that’s how we separate ourselves,” Harden said. “This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and all the work we put in together is what makes this genuine. We’re open to each other’s opinions and we weren’t going to just put shoes on the shelves and say ‘This is James Harden.’ It’s built for how I play and you’ll see my style, different moods, the little details and stories that represent who I am.”

Harden added, “People always ask me, ‘How are you different?’ It’s hard to explain how you’re different but the shoe explains it for me.”

Pioneer – the first edition of Harden Vol. 1 – celebrates the championship game performance of a young, beardless No. 13 who scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished three assists and recorded two steals on the way to winning his second-straight California state title in high school. The silhouette is designed with a black knit upper, white leather toe shroud and red accents that pay homage to where his journey began. The championship date (March 24, 2007) is featured on the left sockliner with his game stats on the right sockliner

WITHSTAND THE PRESSURE
Full-length BOOST cushioning provides unparalleled energy return, while a premium toe shroud – developed from Harden’s need to guard against defenders stepping on his feet – creates comfort and protection, unstitched design for natural movement and on-court durability.

NEXT LEVEL CONTROL
Advanced generative software analyzed James’ stress patterns on-court and built unique data driven sub-structures, creating a traction pattern specifically tuned for Harden’s disruptive change of pace and stop on a dime gameplay

FIT TO CREATE
Asymmetrical lacing provides adaptive support and removes pressure from the top of the foot for quick cuts and deceptive Eurosteps, while a mix of knit and mesh material executions across various colorways stay true to fine-tuned performance benefits and Harden’s off-court style.

“We begin to think about chapters of our journey with James and this is only Vol. 1,” detailed Brian Foresta, vice president of design, adidas Basketball. “If you have the confidence to wear Harden Vol. 1, step out from the norm and decide to be something new in the game of basketball, then you don't rely on the old recipes. Nor does James and nor do we. I love that he pushed us in that direction.”

Redefining performance apparel, Harden’s signature collection is dressed to sweat without sacrificing his unprecedented style. Cross-functional pieces utilize multidimensional design elements for versatile on and off court transitions, balanced by exaggerated fits and a variety of tonal executions. The collection features breathable protection, secure storage, asymmetric wrapping and layered comfort true to both Harden’s game and basketball DNA.

“Harden Vol. 1 offered us the unique opportunity to reinterpret the traditional view on creating signature product,” added Foresta. “From developing his logo, to translating signature details and color executions, we set out to create something that is striking even at a distance and embodies everything James represents on and off the court.”

The Harden Vol. 1 identity challenges the traditional signature formula and features the Harden Mark, original typography and three stripe executions exclusive to James’ footwear and apparel. A visual expression of the way he disrupts the game, the Harden Mark implements design cues from the circle at center court, while the letter ‘H’ uniquely fuses with the brand’s iconic three stripes.

Signature details are subtly built into Harden Vol. 1 through coded language that ties back to family, including the birthdates of his grandmother (left shoe) and mother (right shoe) molded onto the heel. James’ own signature is also located on the medial side of both shoes on the toe.

adidas unveils the Dame Time Edition of the D Lillard 2

Press release

You know what time it is.

With just .9 seconds remaining on the clock, Damian Lillard drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to the tune of a sold-out Portland crowd that upset the Houston Rockets in Game 6 on May 3, 2014. Dame has since earned the reputation of taking over in the clutch and to honor the moments he lives for, adidas unveils the Dame Time edition of the D Lillard 2.

“I’ve always practiced game-winning shots since I was a kid. My brother and I used to count down the finals seconds, and we wouldn’t leave the hoop until we made it,” Dame explained. “It’s a routine that’s helped shape my mentality in those final moments of a game. I’ll just point to the watch, and you know what time it is.”

Dame Time displays a tonal shot clock mosaic on a sharp red upper and embraces design cues from disappearing minutes in crunch time to reveal the iconic .9 seconds. Matching the ice in his veins, the latest D Lillard 2 also features iced out accents along the outsole and heel branding while gold hits on the lace tips and eyelets cap off the buzzer beating tribute.

Dame Time is already available in leading adidas stores and retail partners for P5,995.

Samsung store officially launches on Lazada

Press release

Manila, Philippines, October 14, 2016 – Samsung Electronic Philippines Corp. (SEPCO) and Lazada E Services Philippines Inc. announced today the launch of the official Samsung store on Lazada. Consumers can now shop Samsung products with ease and convenience online.

(L-R)Inanc Balci, Co-Founder & CEO, Lazada E Services Philippines Inc., Kevin Lee, President, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp.
As a global leader in innovation and technology, Samsung continues to find ways to provide their consumers different retail channel options. Globally, eCommerce sales continue to rise and are predicted to double by 2019. The same trend is being seen here in the Philippines, as more retailers are making efforts to expand their businesses by reaching out to more consumers outside Metro Manila and offering exclusive deals through their online stores.[1]

“We see that online shopping is becoming very popular in the country. Convenience plays a huge role in shopping for our Filipino consumers today. Most would prefer to avoid the heavy traffic and crowded stores, so they turn to online shopping where they don’t have to leave their homes or offices. But when it comes to consumer electronics, most still prefer to visit the physical store due to issues of quality and warranty. By having an official store with a partner that we trust, we reassure our valued customers the same quality and warranty an actual store does,” shares Kevin Lee, President, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp.

Other than shopping convenience, the Samsung store on Lazada also offers consumers official product warranty and exclusive offers.

“We, in Lazada, want to continue providing quality products for our Filipino consumers and this partnership with Samsung greatly helps us to attain that goal. It is an honor to partner with a like-minded company such as Samsung,” notes Inanc Balci, Co-Founder & CEO, Lazada E Services Philippines Inc.

With the official Samsung store now open on Lazada, Filipinos can expect a hassle-free retail experience when shopping for the latest offerings of Samsung. To experience this yourself, visit http://www.lazada.com.ph/officialsamsungstore/

Solar Entertainment Channels' Logos Gets a Different Look

Solar Entertainment's President and CEO Mr. Wilson Tieng
Before the cable TV and internet viewing, I am already an avid viewer of Solar Entertainment when RPN 9 was still in the airwaves. I had good memories of watching my favorite sci-fi series Star Trek. When RPN 9 about to premiere the last(so far) Star Trek series, Enterprise; the group I’m affiliated with, U.S.S. Kalayaan was tapped to join the premiere in our Starfleet uniforms and display our collectibles of Star Trek model ships and action figures.

What makes Solar Entertainment consistent was they never loop one season of the series and continues to bring the latest season and the newest and trending series in U.S. today. Even when it was renamed ETC, I still view their shows though there is presence of cable TV stations.

Now, I am viewing my favorite series The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Lucifer and The Big Bang Theory on JACK TV. The latter is the longest running series I’ve been watching so far and will continue as the other series I’ve mentioned just started airing their latest season premieres. If you can see me now, you will see one happy couch potato.

During the launch of Solar Entertainment, not only I was happy that Solar Entertainment invited me to attend, I was privilege to witness the new logos and Sunday the October 16th at 2000hrs(8PM Philippines), all Solar Entertainment stations, will unveil their new logos on each station: ETC, 2nd Avenue, Basketball TV, and Solar Sports. Mark it on your cellphone calendars and witness it first.

TANGHALANG ATENEO SET TO OPEN " BOY " ON OCT. 19

Press release

Who were you, who are you and who will you become? How much of you did you decide for yourself?

Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Loyola schools of the Ateneo de Manila University opens its 38th season: De/Constructing Narratives with Boy, a thought-provoking new play by award-winning American playwright Anna Ziegler. This will go onstage at the Ateneo de Manila’s Black Box Theater (Fine Arts Annex) on October 19-November 12.

The play, which just had its world premiere produced by Keen Company in New York City earlier this year, is translated into Filipino by Guelan Varela-Luarca and directed by Ed Lacson, Jr. Tanghalang Ateneo’s production of this play not only serves as its Philippine premiere but is also its first international staging and the first one produced outside of the original New York City production.

Boy is a story of self-realization and gender identity, a journey to find one’s self amidst doubt and confusion. The play follows the life of Adam Turner who, as a new-born baby, had an unfortunate medical accident resulting in his parents deciding to raise him as a girl upon the advice of a renowned psychologist. As Adam grows older, his confusion about who he is and what he wants to become in life becomes more and more apparent that his parents eventually decide to reveal to him his biological gender. The discovery leads Adam to re-create himself, severing all communication with his psychologist.

Cholo Ledesma plays this challenging title role.

Teroy Guzman plays Dr. Wendell Barnes, Adam’s psychologist. Passionate about his work and ideals, Dr. Barnes has trouble looking past his own intentions to see the tragic consequences of his actions.

Camille Abaya plays Jenny, Adam’s love interest. A down-to-earth, single mother, Jenny is confused about Adam’s temperament and his relentless persistence in wanting to pursue a relationship with her.

Mayen Estañero and Wenah Nagales alternate as Trudy, Adam’s mother. Like all mothers, Trudy has always tried to look out for the best interests of her child but is undone by her desperation to find an immediate solution to a life-altering problem.

Juliene Mendoza plays Doug, Adam’s father. Often absent because of work, Doug leaves the responsibility of raising Adam to Dr. Barnes and Trudy, with terrible consequences.

A nominee for the 2016 Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Award, Boy was inspired by a real-life psychological case study conducted in the U.S. from the late ‘60s to the early ‘90s. This study, commonly referred to as the case of “Dr. Money And The Boy With No Penis,” is about a botched circumcision that leads to the child’s parents seeking the help of renowned sexologist Dr. John Money who agrees to the counseling of the child in exchange for conducting the study.

BPI-PhilAm Plans Unveils BPI-PhilAm Building Makati

Insurance in the Philippines is given controversy due to what happened in couple of insurance companies that was not able to give their benefits to their insurance clients or policy holders. But now it’s different.

We already have the Insurance Commission to make sure it won’t happen again. One of the conditions in pre-need companies is to have a required trust fund so you can sustain the insurance business.  This is also good when the country’s oldest established bank partnered with one of the country’s established insurance company has their own building and kick off their campaign to orient the public about Bancassurance.

BPI and PhilAm Plans got what it takes to make the insurance business trustworthy in the public’s eye and will orient people why everyone should invest in one. With this partnership, it may be easy to claim benefits or pay dues.
