Movie Review: Charlie St. Cloud

For this post, I will review the movie in a perspective of a moviegoer, not as a person who read the book it was based on. Charlie St. Cloud was based on the book, The Death And Life of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood. I was first intrigued by the movie because of its trailer but it also look like a rip-off from The Sixth Sense. At first, I thought it was adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel since it has all the same elements: A quite town, a death, and a love story. I never thought that Zac Efron did well for the title role and I even disassociate him from musicales so there's a potential of him not just a performer but a real actor as well.  The  most obvious expected moviegoers are the women for this type of movie. Charlie St. Cloud opens September 29 in all Philippine cinemas by United International Pictures.

Movie Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Director Oliver Stone once again shows the real world in a sequel to his 1987 classic, Wall Street. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps brings back Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in this sequel. The first movie paired Douglas with Charlie Sheen as Bud Fox but was now replaced by Shia LeBouf as Jacob Moore. The story takes place after many years, when Gekko was released from prison. As expected from an Oliver Stone movie, it also involves conspiracy that usually happen in America's business and commercial district. Stone reveals that it is a sad reality we need to face that greed and money can motivate one's person because survival to the fittest still applies in the market. But there are logical insights that can be applied when you are watching Wall Street. Like any other Stone movie, it was not meant to entertain but to open minds to reality and make the viewers engaged in the story. The movie is a stand-alone story from the first movie that you can still watch though there were only verbal flashbacks from Gekko's lines which is not totally relevant. If you watch the first one, then it's good for you. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps opens September 29 in all Philippine cinemas by 20th Century Fox.

iPhone 4 is now in the Philippines

Every year, new gadgets come and old gadgets go. We never get satisfied with what we have. Why? Because we adapt to change, to new things. The iPhone 4 is no exception. Last September 24, Globe announces that launch of iPhone 4 in their company.

What's HOT with the iPhone 4? Here are the latest features. It has two layers of engineered panels made of aluminosilicate glass. The same type of glass they use as windshields in trains and helicopters and with iPhone 4's Retina display, Apple boasts that you won't see any grainy image of its pixels.

The Stainless Steel Band Alloy is forged to be five times stronger than regular steel. The band provides impressive rigidity and also functions as the iPhone 4’s antenna.  The iPhone 4 is being run by Apple A4 Processor that able to perform jobs simultaneously and does multi-tasking, video editing and placing FaceTime calls. As if you already have a handheld computer with you. The iPhone 4’s camera can shoot 5 megapixel images and HD videos. It also has built-in LED flash.

Usually, mobile phones have one microphone. The iPhone 4 has two. One located at the bottom next to the connector and the second microphone is built in the top near the headphone and works with the head microphone to suppress unwanted and distracting sounds.

Lastly, the Multi-touch display. A panel laminated on the glass display senses your touch using electrical fields. In summary, the iPhone 4 is a mobile phone innovation that I only see in SciFi stories before that became a reality.

Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Told over the span of four decades, the film focuses on their glamorous and well-heeled lives long before the making of the documentary, on the circumstances behind their riches-to-rags story. Movie Review: Legends of the Guardians

Acclaimed filmmaker Zack Snyder makes his animation debut with the fantasy family adventure “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,” based on the beloved Guardians of Ga’Hoole books by Kathryn Lasky. The film follows Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father’s epic stories of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones.

While Soren dreams of someday joining his heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the notion, and yearns to hunt, fly and steal his father’s favor from his younger sibling. But Kludd’s jealousy has terrible consequences—causing both owlets to fall from their treetop home and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a daring escape with the help of other brave young owls. Together they soar across the sea and through the mist to find the Great Tree, home of the legendary Guardians—Soren’s only hope of defeating the Pure Ones and saving the owl kingdoms.

The film features the voices of Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Ryan Kwanten, Anthony LaPaglia, Miriam Margolyes, Sam Neill, Richard Roxburgh and David Wenham.
Snyder directed “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” from a screenplay by John Orloff and Emil Stern, based on the Guardians of Ga’Hoole novels by Kathryn Lasky. The film was produced by Zareh Nalbandian, with Donald De Line, Deborah Snyder, Lionel Wigram, Chris deFaria, Kathryn Lasky and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers.

The film’s production designer was Simon Whiteley, its art director, Grant Freckelton, its editor, David Burrows, its digital supervisors, Aidan Sarsfield and Ben Gunsberger, its animation director, Eric Leighton, its previz & lensing director, David Scott, its head of story, Alexs Stadermann, its supervising sound editor and designer, Wayne Pashley, its animation supervisor, Alex Weight, its character supervisor, Damien Gray, its environment supervisor, Greg Jowle, and its composer, David Hirschfelder.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Village Roadshow Pictures Production, an Animal Logic Production, “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.”

Review:
Kludd chases a bird
The animation was great especially in IMAX. The 3D was amazing in the action scenes. Although the owls still look like the penguins of Happy Feet. They even add drama to it in a bullet-slow motion effect like in The Matrix. Love the cinematic chase scene of Kludd, one of the characters of the movie.

For the characters, I can relate myself to Soren, a protagonist of the story, in a lot of ways. Like Soren, he dreams of his heroes, which is the luxury we don't have in this time and age. Soren's dreams is all that he got to motivate himself that made him a crucial part of the story. His struggles can be all too real. Even though the story was set using owls as a medium, there are parallelisms that can be connected to the human society.

I also like the imagination of creating the characters. Since it was based on the book, which I haven't read yet, they were done so neat. The choice of weapons of the owls were saw cool like Wolverine's claws. Owls were not the same level of hawks but they are also predators that hunt smaller preys like birds and rodents.

The ensemble has a great casting. My personal favorites Sam Neill and especially Hugo Weaving were ideal for their respective roles. I can see why they chose Weaving since he is my favorite antagonist as Megatron in Transformers and Agent Smith in The Matrix and as an antihero in V for Vendetta.

In summary, I recommend this movie for the whole family to watch. it is not violent and it will be guaranteed pure enjoyment. Since it is a Warner Bros. production, expect a new Looney Tunes 3D short film starring Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote to start up your movie with pure fun. Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole opens in all Philippine cinemas on September 24 and is distributed by Warner Bros. Photos courtesy of Warner Bros. Phils.

Baon Solutions with Tang

You may have seen weird posters over the streets that looks like a missing person ad and wonder what was that all about? All was revealed at SM Mal of Asia's Music Hall when Tang launches a new product, TANG PICK & GO. Tang Pick & Go comes in a 3-sachets in one(9g x 3) where each sachet pack has 3 flavors each(Pineapple,Orange, and Mango). It is a perfect way for the kids' baon needs in a fun way for them to enjoy. All they need is a 330ml amount of water in a bottle or jug and all do is RIP, POUR, and SHAKE. Tang Pick & Go is now available commercially at your nearest grocery and supermarket.

The search for the missing lunchbox is over – but it’s not only the owner who’ll be celebrating.
Heeding the plea for help announced on numerous billboards and flyers all over the country, kids from Manila, Cebu, and Davao have joined Agua Bendita and Momay’s child star Xyriel Manabat’s two-week quest to find her lost lunchbox.
And as the most-wanted lunchbox is finally opened, every boy and girl will discover the reason why little Xyriel was so urgently searching for this one in particular – the refreshing baon surprise inside for kids to enjoy in school everyday.

Unlike before when children had to wait to get home and have mom prepare their favorite juice drink, the newest Tang Pick & Go – the surprise waiting inside Xyriel’s lunchbox – allows kids to make for themselves a delicious drink, whether after a PE class with their classmates or during recess breaks in school.
“Tang Pick & Go not only makes nutritious refreshment more accessible, this newest easy-to-prepare Tang variant empowers kids to do things independently like deciding what flavor to drink and preparing it on their own," says Cyn Icasas, Category Marketing Manager for Beverages of Kraft Foods Philippines. “Wherever their sense of adventure may lead them, they can always enjoy their favorite juice along with them.”
To be launched at the SM Mall of Asia as well as other key venues throughout the Philippines which are SM Cebu and SM Davao, Tang Pick & Go is now available at supermarkets, groceries and sari-sari stores nationwide. And with the help of the “Rip, Pour, and Shake” dance, kids can even have fun preparing their favorite drink.
“Whatever flavor they like – whether they prefer the classic Orange taste or love the more tropical Pineapple and Mangga delights – these kids will no doubt have a blast with the Tang Pick & Go,” enthuses Mark de Joya, Brand Manager of Tang.
“With a sachet just right for a 330ml lunchbox water tumbler, kids will surely find new ways to enjoy this well-loved drink”
The search may have come to an end, but a refreshing beginning greets Xyriel and kids everywhere, with Tang Pick & Go.

Cenovis Fish Oil

There are diseases that cannot be cured my modern medicine alone. Our bodies have a natural way to heal it. Centovis Fish Oil capsules is just one of the natural way to make our lifestyle healthy. Fish oil have healthy benefits that can be preventive for cancer, good for the heart but it's not a cure. We still need to consume at least two fish meals a week.Fish Oil is only a substitute if we don't consume much fish. Cenovis Fish Oil can be purchased even without prescription but you can ask your doctor about it. It is also not heavy on the pocket since its SRP is only PhP9.75 per capsule and it has no fish after taste. The fish oil used here comes from the fishes of Peruvian waters which is considered the cleanest seas in the world.
