The 4th Global Handwashing Day as Unicef, Procter & Gamble Safeguard and partners continue the advocacy of teaching kids proper handwashing with soap! The Philippines, together with over 100 countries in 5 continents, join hands in celebrating the simple but life-saving act of handwashing with soap.

This year, Global Handwashing Day is a nationwide family affair as we celebrate with the theme “Pamilya Playtime Para sa Kalusugan”. It is a fun-filled day embodying the Filipino family spirit as we remind everyone that clean hands save lives!

GHD was conceptualized to stem the transmission of highly preventable diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia. These diseases account for the top causes of deaths in children under five years worldwide. In the Philippines, diarrhea is the 4th leading cause of deaths among children less than five years and kills 10,000 children annually.
