Brand New Cinemax Series Profugos

BRAND NEW ORIGINAL SERIES
PRÓFUGOS
PREMIERES FRIDAY, JANUARY 4 AT 10PM, EXCLUSIVELY ON CINEMAX

PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 13 2012 – PRÓFUGOS (The Fugitives), a brand new original series produced by HBO Latin America, will premiere in Asia on Friday, January 4 at 10pm on Cinemax.  The 13-episode season, filmed entirely in Chile, centers around a failed drug trafficking operation that sparks a frantic pursuit of four men who find themselves forced to find refuge throughout Chilean territory, as they flee from both the mafia and the law.

The four PRÓFUGOS – Vicente Ferragut (Nestor Cantillana), Alvaro “Tegui” Parraguez (Benjamin Vicuña), Oscar Salamanca (Francisco Reyes) and Mario Moreno (Luis Gnecco) – are contracted by Kika Ferragut (Claudia Di Girolamo) to transport a liquid cocaine shipment from the border of Bolivia to the Chilean port of Iquique. Nevertheless, in the midst of the final delivery, a shot rings out from a nearby terrace, unleashing a violent ambush.

The cast of PRÓFUGOS also includes: Blanca Lewin, Aline Kuppenheim, Luis Dubo, Marcelo Alonso, Amparo Noguera, Angelica Castro, Hector Morales and Camila Hirane, among others.

A complex web of ambitions, interests and corruption move the threads of this story, where no one is who they appear to be, everyone hides a past and sheer desperation unites an unlikely foursome before the critical need to escape. The four Prófugos flee without knowing exactly who pursues them, meanwhile doing everything possible to protect their families and loved ones from growing threats. Every moment is key in deciding their uncertain future.

PRÓFUGOS was filmed over a 6-month period in High Definition format; featured locations include a variety of majestic landscapes in Iquique, Valparaíso, Santiago, Farellones, Puerto Montt and other Chilean cities and desert regions that share border with Bolivia.

The series was produced by Luis F. Peraza and Roberto Rios of HBO Latin America Originals, along with Pablo Larrain, Juan de Dios Larrain, Cristian de la Fuente and Rodrigo Flores of Efetres-Fabula Productions. General Direction was led by Pablo Larrain (Fuga, Tony Manero, Post Mortem). Other directors include Javier Patron (Capadocia) and Jonathan Jakubowicz (Secuestro Express). Members of the writing team include Pablo Illanes, Josefina Fernandez, Mateo Iribarren and Enrique Videla.
