Weddings made smarter with Carousell

Press release

Planning a wedding? Keep it simple, elegant and within budget

He’s proposed, the ring is gorgeous, and now the wedding planning begins. Most brides-to-be start by filling a Pinterest board with gorgeous wedding inspiration, and eventually realise that a dream wedding usually has to come with a pretty generous dream budget. However, since most wedding items are only used once, some savvy brides have started to realise that there’s a treasure trove of affordable preloved wedding items on Carousell.

A mobile marketplace that lets you snap, list, sell in 30 seconds, Carousell is becoming a popular resource for brides to fund their dream wedding, or to let go of wedding pieces as they’ve been holding on because #hugot, but have run out of storage space.

Filipino Carousellers also seem to be warming to the idea of using Carousell to help them prepare for the biggest day of their lives.

A few quick searches and you can find several Carousellers looking to declutter and pass on their pre-loved items as they prepare for a new stage in life.

With more than 1.6 million listings, navigating Carousell sounds daunting. But we’ve narrowed it down to some key categories to get brides-to-be pointed in the right direction.

1.       Find your dream dress (and it’s a steal!)

It’s your big day and all eyes will be on you. Carousell is a savvy bride’s dream, with thousands of listings for preloved wedding fashion. Most of these have only been worn once, so there’s a good chance you’ll find your dream dress at a great price, and in almost-new condition. We’ve got our eye on this Vera Wang inspired wedding gown. There’s also a sizeable collection pre-loved shoes you can go through to find the perfect match to your outfit.

      2. Finishing touches

You’ve got the dress to die for and those killer heels. Now you’ll want to complete the look with flawless skin. Pamper yourself with that makeup set you always wanted at a fraction of the cost brand-new. Or that perfect shade of lipstick so you will look gorgeous on your special day.

  3. Dressing up your venue

Once you’re all dressed for the occasion, you’ll need to make sure your wedding venue looks just as sharp as you. Looking to add those final touches to the location? Look no further than some of these sun jars or even a string of fairy lights on Carousell to really give your wedding and reception that x-factor.

   4. Don’t forget your helpers

Bridesmaids and groomsmen will pay an integral part in pulling your wedding together. So make sure you reward them with a nice set of dresses, and they can look awesome even while helping you ensure everything runs smoothly.

   5. Paying it forward

Once the festivities have died down, the couple will finally have more time to pause and take it all in. When it’s time to clean up and go home, you probably don’t want to find a place to store all the leftover decorations or souvenirs at home, or even worse throw them away.

Your items can go on to serve other weddings down the road, continuing to be meaningful to the next wedding couple.

Carousell lets you sell some of the excess accessories that you no longer need. Just snap a photo, list it on our marketplace and you’re all set to sell.

Now, your items can go on to help someone else have their dream wedding. Don’t forget to share your wedding experience with us on Facebook or Instagram!

RENAISSANCE ART GALLERY CELEBRATES “XIV” YEARS WITH GROUP SHOW JUNE 8 - 20

Press release

Renaissance Art Gallery, a leading purveyor of non-representational art in the country, celebrates its fourteenth anniversary with a show titled “XIV.” Founded in 2003 by Noli and Agnes Romero, the gallery has spearheaded the discovery and support of young abstractionists, giving them the opportunity of being launched in their own first solo exhibition. On occasion, however, Renaissance Art Gallery has also exhibited classic and conservative contemporary masterworks.

Curated by noted art critic, writer and visual artist Cid Reyes, the participating artists in “XIV” are: Allain Hablo, Sio Montera, Josef Laureano, Pao de Guzaman, Arley Carig, Jay Ragma, Art Bermido, Aner Sebastian, Resty Tica, Rick Hernandez, and Sam Penaso.

A man of many talents, Allain Hablo is, first and foremost, a thinking artist.  Sio Montera’s works are distinguished  by an ambitiousness of scale and a mania for surprising materials. In a transitional stage, Josef Laureano’s works are more audacious in the gestural character of Abstract Expressionism. Emerging abstractionist Pao de Guzman comes from a studied representational idiom. Arley Carig advances into the evanescent  depths of space. Jay Ragma generates visual excitement with throbbing retinal sensations. Art Bermido manipulates space with neither beginning nor end. Aner Sebastian transports the viewer into a once remembered, favorite spot of nature. Resty Tica pursues an abstraction of subtlety and tranquility. Rick Hernandez is an acolyte of geometry, unbuirdened by objects and ornaments. Award-winner Sam Penaso explores the three-dimensional field with his so-called “scraptures.”

The show runs from June 8-20, 2017. Reception cocktails will be held on June 14.

Renaissance Art Gallery is at the 4/L, The Artwalk, Bldg. A, SM Megamall, EDSA corner Julia Vargas Avenue, Mandaluyong  City. For inquiries, call mobile: 0917-7625692. Email: renaissanceart.ph@gmail.com

Take on the city with adidas PureBOOST DPR, engineered to deliver a raw, real and adaptive street running experience

Press release

- adidas’ latest PureBOOST innovation delivers an immersive urban running experience
- Dropped low and wide, it takes runners closer to the streets
- Signature BOOST technology with a new 8mm head-to-toe offset stores and unleashes energy more effectively

adidas reveals its latest addition to the PureBOOST franchise that launched earlier this year, the new PureBOOST DPR - an  innovation engineered to take runners closer to the city streets. Made for runners whose unafraid attitude makes no urban environment unconquerable, the new agile and adaptive design features the latest application of adidas’ industry leading Boost technology, with a new 8mm heel-to-toe offset. Creating a natural Boost platform that stores and unleashes energy more effectively every time it hits the ground, the shoe enables runners to truly ‘feel’ the streets.

When developing PureBOOST DPR, adidas looked at the needs of the urban runner and designed a shoe that is as dynamic and adaptable as they are. PureBOOST DPR was created to support runners in dodging traffic, racing street lights and weaving through pedestrians, working with the unpredictable surroundings and harnessing its energy.

Stephan Schneider, product manager, adidas Global Running said: “All over the world, runners are exploring cities and expressing their own creativity in the routes they choose and the challenges they take on. We wanted to build something purely designed for this type of runner, and loved the idea of creating a more adaptive running experience. This led us to design an 8mm heel-to-offset, that when paired with signature Boost technology allows the feet to sit lower, deeper, and much closer to the streets.”

The shoe’s key features include:

-          One-piece engineered circular knit upper - Aramis-tested for a seamless and adaptive fit, wrapping the foot from the inside of the midfoot around to the outside. Providing comfort no matter the route or obstacle.
-          Heel fit counter system - designed to enhance the support of the foot and the Achilles, allowing the foot to move effortlessly with the shoe.
-          Wider forefoot - providing a more stable platform that tailors itself in the pivotal moments of transition when running over varied urban surfaces and around corners.
-          Stretchweb outsole - enabling a smoother and more flexible ride, working in harmony with Boost to unleash a runner’s full potential.
-          BOOST - ultra-responsive comfort and cushioning that stores and returns energy every time the foot hits the ground.

The adidas PureBOOST DPR retails for P7,495 at http://shop.adidas.com.ph/running/, Commonwealth, and Sole Academy. Follow the conversation at @adidasrunning on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook using #PureBOOST.

Customers Are Embracing Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere To Create a Protected Digital Workplace

Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere extends its enterprise capabilities to target security-conscious customers of Box and Dropbox

MANILA, Philippines (May 26, 2017) — Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501), today announced that the latest version of Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Anywhere puts the right tools in the hands of employees to make them more engaged, productive and efficient. Expanding on the platform’s heritage in enterprise-class features and security, HCP Anywhere adds more collaboration, usability and data protection capabilities with a refined user experience, allowing organizations to transform to a digital workplace that is virtual, mobile and highly collaborative.

Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is the industry’s only private enterprise mobility solution that allows employees to collaborate with co-workers and external parties to share files or folders anytime, anywhere, on any device, without compromising security or control of corporate information. Hitachi Data Systems’ enterprise expertise and superior information security over consumer-class offerings give IT managers greater visibility, control and governance over company data in corporate issued PCs and virtual desktop environments as well as bring-your-own-device (BYOD) tablets and smartphones.

“With this latest release, Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is more than a simple sync and share tool. With enhancements to collaboration, content mobilization and user data protection, it has become an enterprise mobility solution and a foundation for transforming to a digital workplace.”— Scott Sinclair, Senior Analyst, ESG

Key features and benefits include:
·       Anytime, anywhere, any device access mobilizes data with cloud home directories and protects enterprise file sync and share.
·       Optimized group collaboration simplifies workflows and optimizes workgroup productivity.
·       End-user and enterprise data protection mitigate new threats such as ransomware, and the enhanced security of company data.
·       Robust security, search and governance provide superior visibility, control and compliance for critical data assets.
·       Modern, intuitive, customized user experience adapts to new devices.
·       API customization options tune the solution for different user types, customize workflows and develop new applications.

The combination of HCP Anywhere and the rest of the HCP portfolio of object storage, cloud file gateway, content intelligence and search is an easy first step for organizations pursuing digital transformation. By modernizing file services with cloud home directories, enterprise mobility and content analytics, IT departments can become more relevant than ever before. They can offer new, compelling IT services to the rest of the organization, serve as a cloud broker to other functional groups, and give developers new in-house tools to create new applications to better serve employees and customers.

Hitachi’s content platform Anywhere exploits squarely the opportunities, benefits and advantages of the coming digital transformation of the Philippine economy.

In its top predictions for the Philippine ICT industry for 2017 and beyond, IDC Philippines foresees digital transformation (DX) will attain macroeconomic scale over the next three to four years. In the next four years, revenue growth from information-based products will be double that of the rest of the product/service portfolio for a quarter of the top 1,000 Philippine companies.  By 2020, about 25% of the country’s top 1,000 companies will see majority of their business depend on their ability to create digitally enhanced products, services and experiences.

“HCP Anywhere has been a success for Hitachi Data Systems. Customers recognize the power HCP Anywhere has to transform not just the way they deliver user file services, but the way the HCP portfolio can transform their business. As a result, we are approaching one million paid enterprise users and realized 2X revenue growth over the previous fiscal year. Our strong compliance and security heritage coupled with our expertise in understanding and integrating into some of the most complex enterprise IT environments are just a few of the reasons we are seeing security conscious customers choose our solution over consumer oriented Dropbox or Box.” – Bob Primmer, Vice President, Content, Mobility and Analytics, Hitachi Data Systems

Another BGC Arts Festival to celebrate Independence Day

Last January, I was able to attend the BGC Arts Festival and toured the facility of Maybank Performing Arts Center. If the Mind Museum is a venue for science, it should be obvious that this is for the arts. Both are spearheaded by the Bonifacio Foundation.

As oriented last time, the Maybank Performing Arts Center wishes their venue to promote all seven forms of Arts: Visual, Music, Dance, Literature, Theater, Motion Picture and more as the arts advances. It will be on June 10 and 11 which is also a weekend like the previous one. Since it falls before Philippine Independence Day, it is suited to celebrate it with performance arts.

As I said earlier, there are many art forms developed as we advances in the digital era, the different artists are selected for this festival because they have a presentation that is suited for the occasion. What better way to spend the Independence Day with the family than in an Arts Festival.

The participants are from different artistic companies which all performing arts are represented. The National Music Competitions for Young Artists or NAMCYA will showcase today’s talented young musicians. I was able to see a classical guitar performance during the launch. Entablado will combine both digital projection and dance as they present their original video Lucid with the Maybank Arts Center as a backdraft.

I’ve been blogging for SPIT and Third World Improv many times because I am a huge fan. Maybank Arts Center was gracious enough to accommodate the group for Improv sessions. SPIT will introduce their new Improv act called INDI’SARSWELA. Improvs are fun because it is not scripted and spontaneous. It also requires audience participation. I even got pulled by the group to join them in one of their previous events.

For the thespians, there are Kids Acts Philippines presenting their original production Cinderella and Twin Bill Production of “My Name Is Asher Lev” which I got to see and I highly recommend. Some of the shows may require ticket purchases but there are also free shows.

I got to meet talk to one of the participants who calls themselves Paintstacular, a duo wearing body suits to use as paintbrushes as they ask their audiences to pour paint all over them. They will be doing this act starting 10AM at the park grounds outside.

When I ask the participating groups what do they expect from their audience, SPIT answered participation. Entablado answered understanding the message. Simultaneously, The Mind Museum is also having a science fair that showcase Filipino ingenuity of the field. Safe and Convenient Driving with Mazda Connect

Press release

Even before the implementation of RA 10913, or the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, Mazda has already included built-in features that allow drivers to be safely connected with their smartphone, while also being entertained, on the road.

Mazda Connect is the infotainment system available in all KODO-generation Mazda models. Its human-centered design aims to minimize visual, cognitive and manual distraction. This advanced infotainment system allows the driver to control and manage data and select entertainment options while keeping his attention focused on the road ahead. With either its 7- or 8-inch touchscreens strategically located below the windshield line and just at the middle of the dashboard, the system was designed from the start not to interfere with the driver’s line of sight and instead enhance driving ease by positioning vital vehicle information at a slight glance.

With safety as the top priority, the Mazda Connect touchscreen feature is disengaged once the vehicle is in motion. This is when the intuitive layout and location of the Commander Control knob and its surrounding five buttons and accompanying volume dial, as well as the steering wheel control switches, take over and allow the driver to manage the system while keeping his head up and his eyes on the road.
Mazda Connect also lets the driver pair his mobile phone via Bluetooth for a true hands-free call experience. The system has a built-in microphone to pick up spoken voice while the car’s speakers pass audio through so the driver doesn’t have to hold his phone while listening to the caller speak. Through Voice Control and Recognition, Mazda Connect also reads out SMS text and allows the driver to reply with preset messages. Controlling the system’s functions through simple spoken words is yet another feature that demonstrates Mazda’s focus on safety while driving.

Mazda has been at the forefront of driving safety and convenience since the first Mazda Connect system was introduced in the current Mazda 3 in 2014. It is the first mainstream manufacturer to use a rotary controller paired with an in-dash screen, a feature previously found only in luxury brands. The Mazda Connect system undoubtedly leads the way to safer and more convenient driving.
Bermaz Auto Philippines, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles and parts in the Philippines. Its current product line-up now includes the Mazda2 sub-compact sedan and hatchback, the Mazda3 compact sedan and hatchback, the Mazda6 full-size executive sedan and sports wagon, the CX-3 freestyle crossover, the all-new CX-5 five- seater and the all-new CX-9 seven-seater premium crossovers, the MX-5 2-seater sports roadster and the BT-50 pickup truck. Mazda Philippines ranks first in the 2016 J.D. Power Philippines Customer Service Index Study which states that Mazda is among the best in the country when it comes to service quality, service initiation, vehicle pick-up, service facility, and service advisor performance. There are 19 Mazda 3S dealerships located across the Philippines and Metro Manila – Mazda Greenhills, Mazda Pasig, Mazda Quezon Avenue, Mazda North EDSA, Mazda Makati, Mazda Alabang, Mazda Otis, Mazda Cavite, Mazda Sta. Rosa, Mazda Pulilan, Mazda Pampanga, Mazda Dagupan, Mazda Cabanatuan, Mazda Tarlac, Mazda Negros, Mazda Cebu, Mazda Iloilo, Mazda Cagayan De Oro and Mazda Davao
