Millennium Run for Women's Health

Since I started blogging, one of the most read articles I wrote and read was advocacy especially about women's health. Now, why would a male blogger like me concerned with this. Simple. I have women in my life. I was raised alone by my mother, had two sisters followed after me, and closest to my next bloodline is my niece. As the only man in the family, I have an obligation to protect them. If I have to learn more about their health is my concern as well and so should any man who wishes to do the same with their loved ones.
Abbygale Arenas-De Leon, Bravehearts president discusses the campaign

According to the Philippine Obstestrical Health and Gynecological Society (POGS), 11 Filipino women daily, 4,500 yearly die during pregnancy and childbirth and it's the highest maternal mortality rate in Asia. POGS' goal is to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.

The factors that lead to maternal death in the Philippines are lack of prenatal and postnatal check ups, childbirth complications, hypertension, hemorrhage, and below standard nutrition.

Since fun runs is currently a fad among Pinoys, it is also great way to raise a campaign. For the first time, Bravehearts will park their bicycles for the Millenium Run. Bravehearts has been organizing the successful biking tour, The Tour Of Hope, every year for the similar campaign.
