This probably a historical event that will change how we view movies. SM Lifestyle and Entertainment Inc. signs the memorandum of understanding with Omni Digital Ventures, under Solar Entertainment Corp; who brought you the mobile movie app Blink.
Blink is not online movie subscription app that gives the current movies or even the old ones or the latest episodes from your favorite U.S. series anywhere you go. Present during the launch and signing were Mr. Hans Sy; president of SM Prime Holdings, Mr. Edgar Terejero of SMLI, Mr. William Tieng and Mr. Wilson Tieng of Solar Entertainment Corp and Mr. Roland De Guzman of Omni Digital/Blink.
To avail Blink, you have to download the application whether in your PC or mobile devices. You need to register online so you can subscribe to their library of movies and TV series. I am not ignorant about the piracy issue but this is probably the best solution. It will be better to watch in Blink than an illegal copy because it may not be HD quality and it may contain viruses in the digital file. You can just pay using your mobile cellular credits in subscribing. Now that SMLI is part of Blink, you can probably use your E-Plus credits in the future.
This is also a good innovation for the movie industry. It is also possible that you can watch advance screenings, premieres or block screenings in your mobile devices. But even though movies can go mobile, it will never replace the magic in watching in cinemas but it compliments the movie industry so it won't affect the cinema operations and the producers and distributors.
