Joining the fun in this year’s Philippine International Motor Show’s (PIMS) is local commercial vehicle manufacturer Columbian Manufacturing Corporation (CMANC), the local Completely Knock-Down (CKD) partner of Daewoo Bus Global Corp. in Korea.

“As a global manufacturer of buses we are very excited at the robust growth of the Philippine market, we support CMANC and look forward to enhancing our partnership. The healthy CKD operations in the Philippines have the other players in the Asia Pacific region, sitting up and taking interest.  In fact, some of us from Daewoo Bus Global Corp. head office in Korea are looking into introducing other eco-friendly bus models to serve both the local market and the export business” said Daewoo executive.

These encouraging words are a glowing recommendation for Filipino engineers, designers and skilled workers who are proving their world-class quality of work given the opportunity to prove their worth.  CMANC the leading local bus manufacturer, provides employment and contributes to the local manufacturing industry.

CMANC also proved to their Korean partners from Daewoo Bus Global Corp that car shows are more fun in the Philippines. “We see our participation in PIMS this year as a celebration of our accomplishments, we sold more than 700 units in just three years, and now these buses serve our commuters from Northern Luzon to Southern Mindanao, reflecting a combined mileage of 120,000,000 kilometer run” said General Manager Mr. Mario S. Regis.

And celebrate they did. The Daewoo Bus booth launched with a Korean Popular Music (more commonly known as K-POP), theme. “We chose K-POP because this cultural phenomenon was embraced by Filipinos. Similarly Daewoo Buses with components and technology from Korea, is now proudly Philippine made, manufactured and designed by CMANC out of their Santa Rosa Plant in Laguna.”  The entertaining theme fit right in with PIMS’ theme “Drive the Fun.”

Just like the smartly-designed Daewoo Buses, host Ms. Jinri Park also drew admiring glances. Jinri Park is a popular radio personality also of Korean decent who is a Pinay at heart. “I’m proud to be part of this event; Daewoo buses boast enhanced safety, comfort and eco-friendly technology, from Korea. The fact that CMANC made & designed these buses right here is something Filipinos can be proud of.”

The Daewoo Bus booth showcased CMANC’s proudly Philippine made and designed bus model BV115, and for educational purposes the BS106 structural display unit.
