SM Arena Host Their First Boxing Match

Boxing is one of the oldest and most viewed sports in the country. Besides basketball, a lot of people at home are tuned in to either their radios or television to see the live broadcast coverage of the match. It is most watch that people either go early or late to church because it is usually held on a Sunday.

This is the first time I watched a weigh-in of boxers up-close. I usually see these events either in the newspaper or television. I never realized it would be fun to watch as boxers get weighed in to see if they are overweight for their weight class. it is also knowing how much weight will each boxer going against their opponent. And of course there's the face-off after the weigh-in for photo-ops. This is good publicity because boxers sometimes jokes around like signalling they are number one or go head-to-head.

SM Arena has been hosting biggest concerts, opened this year's college basketball league for the first time and now will host their first boxing event, Pinoy Pride XVII. This is an exciting match because we are having our own boxers face-off their international opponents from Indonesia, Thailand, Barbados, Uganda and Mexico.
WBO Championship belt

For the felterweight division, we are having IBF international champion Rey "Boom Boom" Gonzales against Daniel Ruiz of Mexico. For the light welterweight, WBO World #7 Light Welterweight titleholder Jason "El Nino" Pagara against Miguel Antoine of Barbados. For the bantamweight, WBO Oriental Bantamweight champion Michael "Bruce Lee" Domingo against Tambe Rabinson of Uganda.  For the light flyweight, former Philippine Light Flyweight champion Marlon "Nightmare" Tapales against Ramanudin of Indonesia. For the main event, Filipino boxing sensation AJ "Bazooka" Banal takes on Thailand's Pungluang Sor Singyu for the WBO Bantamweight title. It will be a cross-cultural clash and it we don't need to travel overseas just to see it live.
