Samsung and Yuchengco Museum conclude Instagram contest, pay tribute to late nationalist sculptor Eduardo Castrillo

Samsung and Yuchengco Museum extend Culture Connect: Castrillo @ 50 Instagram contest until end of September

Manila, Philippines, September 5, 2016 – In August, Samsung and Yuchengco Museum launched Culture Connect: Castrillo @ 50, an Instagram contest, which aims to strengthen Filipinos’ patriotism and appreciation for public art.

The Instagram contest commemorates the works of nationalist Filipino sculptor, Eduardo Castrillo, as he celebrates 50 years of being a professional artist. Known as the monument maker, Castrillo created masterpieces such as Binhi ng mga Bayani found at Rizal Park, and People Power located along EDSA, which are vivid reflections of the Philippine history and culture.

Culture Connect: Castrillo @ 50 has run through the entire duration of August, and will be extended until September 30 to accommodate more entries.

Samsung S Carpet Launch

Last September 1, I was invited to a fashion event unlike any other. I am not into fashion but I made an exception on this one. Because it is the launch of Samsung's Galaxy S6 edge++ and Note5.

What does fashion have anything to do with the Note5 and S6? Samsung collaborated with the country's leading fashion designers. By using the latest models of the Samsung gadgets, the designers were able to come up with an inspiration for the event which they showcased during the launch.

This event was done in collaboration with the Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines. On the same week, the S6 and the Note5 were now available. An old friend of mine was already in line at the Samsung outlet in Megamall as he was waiting to purchased his new S6.

Although I am not aware of the release of the device, I am impressed with the investment of their promotional video. Samsung made it look like a science fiction trailer. That they were invaded by an extra-terrestial beings and the team of heroes they gathered are the popular professional football personalities. It brought out the geek interests from me.
